I was burning CDs with my G5 PowerMac one day when suddenly, after finishing one CD, the thing refused to read another CD ever again. I tried blank CDs, burned CDs and retail CDs ... no luck.
So I took it to a local shop. The repairman later reports that "it was reading CDs just fine" and he didn't see any problems. So I bring it home and try again to find that: no, it still won't read any of my CDs.
Frustrated, I take the G5 to a different shop, this time an official Mac shop (just to be sure). A few days later, the Mac repair guy reports: it ran fine. He tried CDs of all kinds, DVDs, burning CDs, burning DVDs ... everything he could think of. They all worked. Perplexed, I brought it home again to find, once again, that my computer apparently just has a grudge against me personally.
I am completely baffled. What could possibly be causing this?
update:
This is fun: now my computer will happily play DVDs but still refuses to run a CD. It seems my computer wants to watch movies.
