I bought a Belkin "Hi-Speed USB 2.0 5-Port PCI Card" to install in my Power Mac G5 2.0 DP (Rev. B, June 2004) running 10.3.6.
For the system requirements, the package doesn't mention anything about Mac hardware but it says that it needs Mac OS 8.6 or higher for USB 1.1 mode and Mac OS X 10.2.7 or higher for USB 2.0 mode.
The Belkin website (URLs below) says that it needs a "Powermac Computer running OS 10.2.7 or above." As for PCI card voltage, the Belkin FAQ for this card says "All of our PCI cards except for the F5U503 are compatible with 3.3 and 5 volt PCI slots. The F5U503 PCI requires a 5 volt PCI slot. " (The card in question is #FSU220.)
Does anyone know if this card will work OK in my Mac? Elsewhere on this board I've heard things about USB cards not working, sleep problems with USB cards and (this I find hard to believe) improper PCI cards possibly ruining the computer.
Can anyone shed any light on this? Should I plug in the card and see if it works? Thanks in advance for any clues.
