I purchased a new iMac in Jan. 2008, with Mac OS 10.5.3 operating system. I have a HP PSC 1315xi All in One printer. With my old Mac (OS 10.2.8) it would not scan multiple pages into a "pdf" file. I was told that with my new Mac it is supposed to scan multiple pages. Any idea on how to set this up?
Thanks for any assistance.

I'm not aware of any scanner that will scan multiple pages automatically into one PDF. What I always do is scan my stuff and then create a single PDF from within Acrobat Professional (Standard can also do this; Reader cannot).

You should be able to do this from Preview, too. Just select all of the scanned images at once, open them in a single Preview panel and then save them as a PDF. Hope this helps!

I knew there was a reason that I loved OS X. Thanks for that tip CJR. I have done other tricks with Preview but I have never thought of doing this.

You're welcome, Sly. I actually prefer creating single PDFs this way (even if an all-at-once PDF scanning option existed) because I can arrange the scans in the order I want 'em and, inevitably, I screw up a scan somehow and need to do it over :-)

Fujitsu makes a couple of different ScanSnap models that will put multiple pages in one pdf.

Should have figured this ability existed somehow, Ozarks, because it makes TOTAL sense in my mind. Even though it's easy to create a single PDF from multiple individual scans, it's not as "efficient" in our time-conscious age. Thanks!

I would like to thank all of you for your assistance. When I first bought the printer I had an older iMac. When I called HP support the tech started to tell me how to scan multiple pages into one document right up to the point that I told him my OS was 10.2.8, then he said it couldn't be done unless I upgraded my OS to 10.4 (or higher). I also have the same HP printer at work and on my PC it allows scanning of multiple pages (until I run out of memory).
Again, thanks for all the answers.

You're welcome, John. So, if I'm reading your post right, your PC does allow you to scan multiple pages automatically into a single PDF? Is that through the scanner software that came with the printer or some other application?
