I bought a Samsung Syncmaster 220wm from bestbuy yesterday and now I'm having problem with the images on the screen coming and going. That and it's moving left to right as if it's trying to stabilize itself. I'm using the supplied DVI cable which I believe is a DVI-D cable. It's working fine right now using the VGA cable but I would like to use the DVI input instead. Any reason why this is happening?

Have you tried any other DVI displays with your video card? Did they work correctly?

Make sure your connectors are clean. Try a different DVI cable.

It's my first dvi display. I don't have another to try out. If it's the dvi cable, should I buy a dvi-i or dvi-d cable?

Problem solved. Can't use the dvi connection for a Macintosh computer. This sucks.

Here's an excerpt from the manual:
Quote:
2-3. Connected to a Macintosh.
Connect the monitor to the Macintosh computer using the D-sub connection cable.

This display uses a HDCP encrypted DVI connection. I would take it back to the store and get a standard DVI display.

I spent a good bit of the day reading about HDCP. I don't know where I was at whenever this came into affect but crap, this is making it hard on me and the G5. Seems like there's no way to bypass it either because the encryption is hardware based. D-sub input will have to do til I can afford a better LCD down the line. Then retire the Samsung to my pc.
