On the podcast, someone mentioned that Claris still lives in the Fetch FTP application. I'm afraid that's not quite correct. Fetch has always featured their little running-dog character to indicate an active transfer. You know..."Fetch", as in "Go fetch, boy!" It's close, but it's no dogcow.

(As an aside, there is a girl on my daughter's softball team who goes by the nickname of "CowDog". It actually has no relationship to Claris, but a couple of us dads have taken to chanting "Moof, moof!" whenever she comes to the plate.)

The DOGCOW is... G.O.N.E? I must have been taking a nap. I think it still lives on that Power Computing 180 I recently gave to my grandson.

I would have voted for two choices -- adding that "KCMac has to get out more!" :D

What was the name of the email app featuring DogCow?

Joan

I am not sure but could it have been Claris Emailer®? My brain says there was another name but this is the one that is trademarked from in the day when they were essentially Apple's software division.

I know...crazy. It's a really convoluted mash of what her real name sort of sounds like...first and last name...with some re-interpretation thrown in. It's a family thing and, yeah, she's cool with it. Seems to like it a lot. Anyway, if you saw her, you'd definitely know the nickname had nothing to do with her appearance. Cute kid.

You are correct. I had this memory of the Dogcow doing backflips in my head. Cory pointed out that it was during the disk copy process using Disk Copy that the dogcow would wag its tail and do backflips.

oh yeah...I forgot about that! That was always fun to watch!
The Mac used to be full of fun stuff like that. I really wish there was still some of that kind of thing in OSX. For instance, when was the last time you typed "secret about the box", and dropped it on the desktop?

Fun times...
