Hi,

I'm using a Logitech wireless mouse and keyboard. Keyboard still works fine but after I gave the apple mouse a try the Logitech has been badly tweaked. The right click and left click are reversed and the side click that used to enable a return to the previous screen has been somehow disabled.

Any way to fix this?

Thanks !

Thanks Iggy,

I got it downloaded but I doesn't seem to have made any difference.

Any thoughts?

Yes it's configured like that. I have a different mouse but it's basically the same.

However, this download seems to have tweaked the Keyboard so that Command V which used to paste is now ALT V. And a few other anamolies.

What's up with that?

the control centre installer asks what kind of keyboard you have, thats the only thing i can think of re: keyboard commands changing

Yes I did that (re: keyboard) and it made no difference.

Also on the Logitech mouse, it's not reacting at all now to clicks.

The Apple Mouse is still functioning properly.

What now?

i wouldnt reccomend that, they might be trying to access the same preference file at the same time which might be causing problems, go to one mouse & one keyboard and if not:

A couple of other things you might try:

1) Create a new admin account, log in the new account and see if the mouse works with that account.

Maybe a pref file somewhere in your current account is somehow corrupted.

2) If that doesn't work either, try dragging to the trash the System Preferences pref file. Path is here:
Macintosh HD > Users > Your account > Library > Preferences > com.apple.systempreferences.plist

1 - Drag the file to the trash (don't empty the trash just yet)
2 - Restart and see if you can configure the Magic Mouse to your liking
3 - If everything works ok, you can now empty the trash.

Still stumped. How can you set preferences if you don't have both the mouse and keyboard connected.

I don't know how to set up a new admin account so I dragged the file to the trash and rebooted. Nothing seems to have changed.

further update Iggy,

I just decided to uninstall the logitech control panel to get the key board working properly again and it didn't change things.

Now I got a bad keyboard AND mouse.

I believe the question was, "Are both mice connected at the same time", not, "Are both keyboard and mouse connected at the same time". If I misread that, my apologies!

Having said that, make sure all the Logitech files are removed, then repair permissions. If that doesn't help, reinstall the last combo update for 10.6. plus any other updates called for by Software Update. After the reinstallation, repair permissions again.

Can you walk me through this. I'm brand new to MAC and have no idea about repair permissions or any of this.

First, the Combo Update can be found on this Support Article. Download it, assuming that your Mac has been updated from it's factory installation.

Open /Applications/Utilities/Disk Utility. Select your boot disk or partition, select the First Aid tab, and click on Repair Disk Permissions. Then wait patiently - it may take awhile.

Mount the disk image for the Combo Updater, presently at 10.6.4, by double clicking it. The contents should automatically be shown. Then double click on the installer, and follow instructions.

When your Mac reboots after the installation, login, and run Software Update under the Apple Menu in the far left top corner to install any Security Updates, etc.

When all this has been done, Repair Permissions again.

If you're using and running Time Machine, you might select a date and time before all this started, and do a restore. If that works, Repair Permissions, and let the rest of the foregoing go.
