I think I know the answer, but someone once said no question is dumb ...

Am I correct that the MacOSG Podcast Widget (and any widgets for that matter) can only be used by folks with OS X 4+?

Yes, any version of 10.4 (Tiger) will support Widgets.

And, in case you are getting ready to run out and buy Tiger, so will Leopard when if comes out this month.

Thanks Rick,

That's what I thought, which brings up another question:

I'm a graphics guy, who uses the computer mainly for work rather than play.

I tend to be very conservative about upgrades (waiting a year or so for in-the-field bugs to be worked out). It took me along time to go to Panther, and did so upon purchasing the last G4, which came with a full version of both OS 9 & OS X installed. I added a SCSI card for my old peripherals. This made the transition very easy.

I guess my question is, other than the obvious "cool factor" of Dashboard, what real advantages should I see in upgrading from Panther to Tiger or even Leopard? More stable? Faster? Something else?

I have generally found OSX, in all its iterations, to be generally stable and reliable so long as you don't start adding hacks, etc. to twist it beyond its design parameters, and so long as you apply updates with nothing else running and no keyboard or mouse inputs beyond those required to do the update. Updates like security and version updates are best applied in combo form from downloaded files. Always repair permissions afterward, including and particularly for 3rd party installations/upgrades requiring authentication. HP drivers are notorious for messing up permissions.

Leopard is the first version of OSX to earn Unix certification. 'Nuf said?

Yep, 'nuf said.

And thanks for that reminder about repairing permissions after installations/upgrades. I'll remember that.
