Recorded video in wrong format to import to iMovie

Somehow I managed to record my whole Alaskan adventure with 1080p.

This means I cannot import the files to iMovie11. Panasonic have told me that there should be a programme that will convert the AVCHD files recorded as .MTS files into an AVCHD format that I can use to import to iMovie11.

Can anyone please point me in the right direction, and what file type will I need.

As for the solution, I suggest AppGeeker Video Converter to convert AVCHD (.mts) to iMovie 11 file like MOV.

It should get you through what you have. It basically converts anything to anything so you shouldn't have any problem finding something that works.
