I use it mostly to host pictures, files and movies.

My broadband upload speed isn't fast enough for me to backup my files too.

I don't sych anything, especially not my address book.

What do you use .Mac for?

I use my .mac e-mail for specific related business, the only people that have that e-mail address, are industry people, so... I know that e-mail to this account, will be buisness oriented, i get virtually no spam at this address. *Knock on wood*

I not only transfer large music session files to musicians, studios, and clients (with the purchased idisk space upgrade). I also share pretty much any kind of file, with anyone, in almost real time....

with my homepage set, as a d/l page from my public folder, if i'm talking with someone on the phone, or chatting with them, about a picture, song, contract, video clip, all I have to do is drag a file, to my public folder, and send them to my homepage.

I'll be giving this service "a run for it's money" over the next while, i have many large sessions to send to various places, and rather then Fed-X a CD, I'll be e-mailing them the iDisk utillity, to mount my account.

I use it to host my website, main email address, store important files, share calendars, get free software, sync bookmarks and address book entries, transfer files to and from my brother, and probably some stuff I am forgetting.

Mine is used for storing graphics that are linked...such as avatars, photos, etc. Mail too.

That's about it.

My Trial account is used to test streaming video before I upload it to my main website.

I use it for temporary storage of large graphics that I need to move from my office to my home. That's about it. Not sure that's worth $99, especially with 1G flash drives going for under $100 now.

I use it to sync my iBook with my G5, to host and maintain my iCal, to host slideshows, blogging, file sharing and every now and then file transfers. But my number 1 main use is email.

I use it to store backups of certain files but I'm really disappointed in Homepage. The templates are really lame. Uploading was a problem due to WebDAV, with Earthlink and Apple blaming the other. The e-mail only support is also a big time waster. I had so much trouble getting a five-minute piece of video compressed enough to make the 1G limit. After figuring that out, I learned that the file couldn't be opened by Windows users because it was compressed with stuffit. Some did not want to add this "foreign" piece of Mac software onto their machine. They could not or would not believe the Windows version of Stuffit wouldn't somehow corrupt their machine. Many people complained about not being able to download the file even before the compression format became an issue. In spite of the Homepage problems I suppose Dot Mac is worth $99 a year. Just the syncing and web access to my Bookmarks, Address Book, and Calendar make it worthwhile for me. I wouldn't pay any more for it though.

I mostly use it for a permanent email address. Also use it to back up some of my photos, the website to post photos, etc.

Use it to keep 3 Mac's synched. email, address book, calendar and favorites. Use the email address for some lists, etc. Occasionally post or put up files for MacOSG, friends, relatives, clients. I find it very convenient to use. For really big files I use another service where I host my business sites.

I use it to sync my two Macs.

I use the e-mail address for friends and companies I trust not to share it.

I also use the homepage for pictures so I don't have to send family members such large files.

I use it to keep address books, calendars, and bookmarks in sync. Also, I use the iDisk quite a lot--I like having the local copy of the drive (on both desktop and laptop) and then synchronizing them to the online copy; makes for a nice quasi-backup, and I don't have to worry about remembering which computer something is on. I didn't really think I needed it, but now that I have it, I'm finding it very handy.
