Could of swore I posted this question here a few days ago, but can't seem to find it now. Oh well, let me try again. It is spring break at my university. People are making wonderful plans, spending stress-free afternoons relaxing at home. Me, I'm going to make my annual charge at the IT department. See, they have all these proxy settings and stuff here. My biggest problem is I cannot set up MobileMe Mail as an SMTP account. One other problem is I cannot access iDisk. Seems to be a port problem. So I called Apple here in Japan, and they said the SMTP incoming port is 587, and the outgoing one is 110. And the port for iDisk is 80. The guy seemed a little unsure on the phone, so before I make a charge at the IT people, I thought I'd check with you guys and see if these ports sound right. What do you think? Thanks in advance.

I see some confusion here. SMTP is only for outgoing mail. Incoming would be IMAP or POP.

Ports:
IMAP: 143 (plain text) 993 (SSL)
POP: 110 (plain text) 995 (SSL)
SMTP: 25 (plain text) 587 (SSL)

I don't know of mail provider that still uses port 25 for SMTP. It is too easy to abuse.

Thanks, Michael. Yes, right, I was confusing IMAP and SMTP. Thanks for the links, too. Okay, I'm going to get some more teachers to go along with me this time, and make a charge at IT. Wish me luck.
