After installation I have a new icon for .mac in sys prefs.
It now is a MobileMe cloud icon. Still no status on the account, though.
Let's try a restart...

Amazing what a restart will do sometimes.
Status now reads 20 GB - 17.1 for iDisk and 2.9 for Mail
Seems to be working OK.

It may take a while to get used to the new layout of MobileMe, but I like how they cleaned it up by getting rid of a lot of stuff I didn't pay much attention to. Like all the entries about how people used their .Mac to do this or that.

Thanks for the info guys. The Mobileme update was not showing in Software Update for me until I went to the .Mac preference pane and signed out of my .mac account.

What he ^^ said.

Slowly but surely it comes together.

I wonder what genius in Cupertino thought it would be a great idea to roll out the App store, MobileMe, the update for the V1 iPhones, and activate V2 iPhones (world wide this time) all at the same time!

Didn't notice this thread when I posted my note. I can get in to the webpage and look around and use it - but nothing is syncing. Apparently the cloud evaporated quickly. Wonder how many folks tried to get on it at the same time?

Maybe I'm in the minority, but everything is working fine for me. I have push enabled and all data is syncing correctly between my iMac, iPhone and the "cloud."

Now that the dust settled last night, mine seems to be working fine also.

I followed the instructions here and everything worked right the first time. If you didn't do this, it would be easy to lose synced data.

I had verified my sync settings right after the mobile me info was posted on the website and made sure I was set up as stated. I find it strange that the sync happened as the appt appeared on my MBP but it isn't on the calendar at me.com. To add to this - I noticed yesterday that I had input the time of the appt incorrectly and fixed it on my iMac yesterday but it never updated anywhere even though my iMac shows that it sync'd - it didn't really. I have to wait until the touch finishes restoring from it's 2.0 update before I can try a restart on the iMac to see if that helps anything.

If the appointment was entered between 7/7 and 7/11 there's a good chance it won't get sync'd. Apple put out a notification (although not a very good one) that you needed to sync your .mac account by 7/6 for the MobileMe switchover. If you entered the appointment during this period it may have ended up in limbo land. Have you tried deleting it and entering it new? It will most probably work.

gggrrrrr
I restarted the iMac and nothing
I then told the MBP to sync and got an error telling me it couldn't sync do to inconsistencies in the calendar. Of course there are inconsistencies. One calendar has one more item that the other :-( That is what sync is for. So...
I went in and unregistered the computers, registered them and then deleted the info on .mac and reset it all up and synced - mac to .mac and .mac to MBP. zilch , nada nothing and I can't get into the calendar at the mobileme website to see if it even got that far. It takes me to the mail page and when I click on the calendar icon it asks me to sign in and and then times out to the page not found error. I also get a white page that says unauthorized in the top left like it was typed by an old remington. I think I might just need to wait til tomorrow and see if it calms down.

Here is a new wrinkle - my touch is in it's dock and it keeps beeping - it is getting the incoming mail about two minutes before my mac and the mac isn't making a noise when the mail comes in. Sort of like the touch gets priority? I don't remember this happening before and in fact the touch will keep beeping until I open the mail.

Now that I have the iMac and iPhone syncing I decided to update my MacBook and mini.

Took about 1/2 hour total to install the updates and sync them both and now all four are in sync.

Even though it may take a few minutes for changes to propagate over all three computers and the iPhone I think syncing is finally the way we all wanted it to be for years.

As the servers stop smoking and settle down I think it will only get better.

Even though MobileMe has been working on my MacBook, my iDisk icon was not changed and the download never showed up in software update like on my iMac on thur/fri. Guess what showed up today on the MacBook software update, MobileMe update 8.3 mb, new icon, etc. All is fine, everything is working.

Playing with Me.com this morning I tried different browsers.

I have to say, there is a noticeable speed improvement using Safari over FF 3.0.

All screens load faster and mail is much more responsive.
