Hope someone can help me - my iMac G5 wont send a REPLY email MOST of the time at the moment. This happened a month or so ago, but I think it started again maybe after I recently downloaded an automatic system update. Last time I fixed it by changing the outgoing server settings - port 25 to 587 after I read what to do in a forum.

Now its set at 587 and its happening again.

It will send a NEW email, but not a reply!

Very annoying as I am cutting and pasting addresses and lose the threads. Any suggestions?

Mighty odd... Who provides your mail service? POP3 or IMAP? The details are in Mail Preferences > Accounts.

Sorry I didnt specify - my account is a .Mac email account. In Preferences it doesnt tell me if either of the two you mentioned apply. Does this help?

It will send a 'new' email - but when I hit 'reply' the reply window doesnt have a 'send' button, as it used to. So, I cant reply to any emails, unless I copy and paste addresses in the 'new' window.

Try creating a new user account and setting up Mail to use .Mac. If it works from there, you have a problem with your current user profile. If it is the same, the problem is almost certainly with the the Mail program.
