eMail is goners.

Perhaps Apple should offer a .Mac service that's cheaper, without some features?

Perhaps let people mix and match services?

I bought it and will renew. Posted an iCal for my golfing buddies, movie for some friends in FL, use the email account as a backup. The provider I have has so many filters on my main account that a few (just a few) people have trouble emailing me from their company accounts that are on MS servers that are not set up correctly. Use the iCards from time to time, and certainly backup a few files on it. Having the address book and calendar available when away from the house has been convenient too.

Could I live without it, sure. Is it easier with it, sure! Is it worth the $99, marginal but 250MB of storage is worth something.

Actually, as of 8/27/05 gmail is up to about 2.5gb, heh. I also have invites to spare as google keeps resetting my invite count. I'm still up at 50, wooha!

Update:
As of Oct. 9, 2007 .Mac space is 10 G plus 30 MB for mail. It's now comparable with Yahoo and Hotmail email accounts that offer 10 G. But with all the other services it's so much more convenient.

I host my course on it, sync my address book and a few other files and have had no problems.
