How To Auto-Tune 'Your Mac Life' Using iCal

MacOSG has developed an iCal calendar that will automatically launch YML's Internet radio stream and live video 15 minutes before each show. You'll never inadvertently miss another show.

Simply follow the ten steps below to import the calendar into your iCal application.

Step 1: Make sure you have Quicktime installed to receive YML's Internet radio.

Step 2: Open iCal and make sure you have your local time zone set right in the upper right hand corner of iCal.




Step 3: Download the YML applications below, unzip them and put them in your hard drive's Application folder - not the Applications folder in your Home user account.

Download this YML audio application to receive the audio stream.

Download this YML video application to receive YML live video.

Step 4: Download this iCal calendar file, unzip it and put it on your desktop. Note: If you have "Open "safe" files after downloading" checked in Safari's preferences, you can proceed to Step 7. iCal will automatically import the calendar after the file is unzipped.

Step 5: Click on your File menu in iCal, select "Import.." and the following window will open. Then select "Import an iCal file" and click "Import."




Step 6: After you click "Import" in step 5, the following window will open. Select the "YML-Calendar.ics" calendar file on your desktop and click "Import."




Step 7: After you click "Import" in step 6, the following window will open. Select "New Calendar" from the drop down menu and click "OK."




Step 8: After you click "OK" in step 7, the following window will open. Select the center tab, "Keep All Alarms." There is nothing to worry about. iCal's alarm is just going to open the YML applicationa you put it in your hard drive's Application folder to launch YML's Internet radio stream and live video. No files on your drive will change or be damaged.




Step 9: Open iCals preferences, click on the Advanced tab and make sure "Turn off alarms when iCal is not open" is not checked, as in the picture below. Also, make sure "Turn on time zone support" is checked. Tip: If for some reason you don't want to listen to a show or turn the auto-launch off, just check the box "Turn off alarms when iCal is not open."

Step 10: Make sure you have plenty of beverages & snacks handy, kick back and enjoy the shows!
