Well! Now that I've got 10.5 working just fine, I go to my vacation place, clone my G5 iMac via SuperDuper! and learn that the 2140 doesn't work. Brother's website says the driver is included on the 10.5 DVD, but it sure doesn't show up on the list of drivers I have! Then, they do list a driver for download, but I'll be danged if I can download it! I tried Firefox and Safari, and nothing downloads.

So I emailed Brother and asked if they would be so kind as to send me the driver, and I'll ask the same here! Does anyone have the dmg or whatever driver installer there is for this printer?

Of course, I don't have the Leopard disks here.

As a last resort, I'll just bring the 2140 back home and swap it with the HP1200 that's on my wife's frozen-in-time 10.4.11 G4 tower, but that's the chicken way to solve the problem.

Help anyone? Thanks loads.

Thank you, Michael -- that did it.

I was (and still am) unable to get past http://www.brother.com/E-ftp/macosxstate-us.htm

Clicking DOWNLOAD only takes me back to the LANGUAGE PAGE with all the flags.

Don't understand why, though.

AND! Not only that, I can only download your link with Safari. I gat a strange error message if I use Firefox 3.

My 2140 is now running perfectly!

You just quit to soon! If you click on US English and keep going on you get to the actual download page about 4 pages later. They're just trying to tire you out! :D

I see it now:

English

For Mac OS® X 10.5 Leopard Users:
The printer driver is contained in the Mac OS® X 10.5 release CD. Please click the links below for additional support information.
for users in US/Canada/Latin America

Went to:
http://www.brother.com/E-ftp/macosxstate-us.htm

Scroll down to
HL-2140 Download

Click on Download
and it takes me back to Please select your country page...

BUT, now I do see if you scroll down the left of the page in the Notes/Information window, to
"Click here to see all downloads for this model." and then scroll all the way to the bottom,

you can then FINALLY select the right driver but only in Safari.
In FF3, I get:

"Downloading /System/Library/CoreServices/Finder.app/Contents/Resources/German.lproj/ClipWindow.nib/objects.xib/RtAOaNvD.dmg.part/System/Library/CoreServices/Finder.app/Contents/Resources/German.lproj/ClipWindow.nib/objects.xib/RtAOaNvD.dmg.part could not be saved, because an unknown error occurred.

Try saving to a different location."

Nothing like making it esy, Brother!

thx again, Michael.
