WE are using a iMac G5 PPC for video to 2 Sony 60 Inch TV's. The iMac is wired directly to both TVs and are used in a church service. We have been unable to figure out why we can't get the image on our computer screen to completely fill the TV screens? What do we need to do? Is it not possible?

Thanks, Gary

Someone higher up in the brain trust may have other ideas but I bet that the graphics card cannot really drive a display that size. The graphics card in my Mac Pro, for example, recommends displays up to 32 inches if I remember correctly. How much of the screen are you able to fill if at all.

Edit: Tell us a bit more about your setup. I assume that only one TV is connected at a time. Also, depending upon your needs I am wondering whether a multimedia projector might not be a better option.

I can fill about 1/2 of both TV's at the same time. I am the Pastor, not the Video expert, but we have one wire going from computer to TV # 1 and another wire from TV#! going to TV#2.

The video option will not work with our low ceiling height. That is the ideal setup.

Can I change the video card in my iMac G5 PPC?

I am not sure that would solve the entire problem. Besides a card to drive that setup might prove rather expensive. Here's what I am looking at as a possibility though I still need to do some research to see if it does what you need/if it is even possible.

1. Connect a scan converter to the iMac which I believe some of these will enlarge the image.
2. A video distribution box would then split the signal t the two TVs.

Video gurus feel free to chime in. This is one of many topics with which I have very little experience.

The iMac G5 only supports video mirroring of the primary display. That provides 1440x900 on the 17" model, and 1680x1050 on the 20" iMac.

Without knowing anything about the televisions, I think your best bet for filling the TV screen is to select a display resolution on the iMac that is close to the native resolution of the TV, then enable the Overscan setting in System Preferences > Displays > Options.
