Hello all,

Currently I have a 5 year old (vintage) PPC G5 2x2. I wonder if I can reuse my internal harddrives in a new Mac Pro machine.

Thanks,

Daniel

The Mac Pro SATA interface is faster than your Power Mac, but is backwards-compatible with your older drives, so you should be able to plug them in and use them. Keep in mind that 5 years is fairly old for a hard drive. I wouldn't expect much more use from them.

Thanks for the reply.

This year I bought a new 500 Gb Hitachi hard drive for my PPC G5, and it is good news that I might be able to continue using it, when I opt for a Mac Pro machine in the (near?) future.
I have also an external eSATA LaCie harddrive, with PCI-adapter, and that one might become more 'profitable' when used in combination with Mac Pro machine, as I have been told.

Regards,

Daniel.
