Hi, I'm Fern.

I've been reading posts here for a few months now. I've had my iMac for nearly 2 years and a MacBook Pro for about 10 months.

I've noticed that you guys offer some pretty good advice and seem to solve a lot of problems, so I'm hoping you can help me with my little hiccup.

On my iMac, the sound of tossing something into the trash and the sound of emptying the trash, has gone. The alert that sounds when you try to do something you can't do, is also gone.

Sound for everything else is O.K. Of course, I've checked the sound settings in System Prefs - everything seems normal.

Any help would be appreciated. I know this is only a tiny problem, but I do love the sound of something hitting the bottom of the trash can!http://macosg.com/group/posting.php?mode=post&f=1#

Check your System Preferences -> Sound -> Output for device. If the output is to Digital Out, make sure there is something attached. Also look at Sound Effects in the Sound Pane.

Hi

You could try resetting the PRAM
